Homework #11

Skill Builder:
1.The chart and graphs help explain the political cartoon because the chart says there is less than 1% of the 1st estate and 2% of the second. Now in the picture you see two men on top of a rock with someone under it implying they are special. The 2nd estate is represented by the guy in a loud red fancy jacket implying he is important and powerful, Which is true the 2nd estate was filled with nobles. Now the head of the Roman Catholic Church is wearing regular clothes but a special hat with his hand out as if he is relinquishing the soul of the dead/dying man they are standing on top of. The 3rd estate explanation is brilliant in my opinion you have a guy under a rock being squished begging for them to stop. Here is what I got from this. The two men on the top NEED the man under the rock because he is making the rock still and sturdy and with out that man the rock would tip and they would both be on the ground floor instead of elevated which takes away from their importance. This is EXTREMELY relevant because the 3rd estate had the most power because it made of 98% of the people during that time. So for the other estates to look powerful the would take advantage of the little people.

2. Because they thought they were better then everybody else and they didn't like ANY of the ideas from the enlightenment.

1. The woman on the left looks like she is a regular woman or even a house cleaner. The woman on the left looks like a queen...someone of the royal family...she looks more concerned with her clothes and her image the woman on the right doesn't care about her clothes as much..maybe because she doesn't have money to spend on very expensive clothing.

Part 2.
"Poor" people in amaerica today tend to dress VERY different then middle class people and upper class people of today. For example kids today wear Jordans and Nikes A Poor person wouldnt spend $170 on sneakers they would rather save that money and spend it on food or other important needs, so instead they buy a $20 pair of sketchers. "Poor" people tend to look at things different then other classes do. They arent as materialistic as the other classes
